A Rosie Valentines Tea Party

While we were in Phoenix, my daughter, Marie, and I,  were able to put together a delightful Valentines Tea Party for Kathy and Marie and myself.  It was a highlight for me, and I believe we had as much fun with the planning and preparing as we did with the actual tea party.

We decided on a Rose theme, using Rosewater  as a special flavoring in our baking… something we had both been wanting to do for quite a while. She made Rosewater Scones and I made a Rosewater Tea Cake. Everything turned out really good.  I have to say that  I have become enchanted with Rosewater now, and have a few more ideas buzzing around in my head… and I think Marie does as well.

For the savory part of our menu, we made tea sandwiches.  Marie made her Cucumber sandwiches,  which I love, and I made the Curried Chicken Salad Sandwiches. Which I had posted several weeks ago.  We added a plate of chocolate ginger cookies, and wedges of chocolate, and served Earl Grey tea in Kathy's beautiful Hungarian  tea pot; as a matter of fact, we used all of Kathy's lovely Hungarian china.  She told us the story of how she brought the china from Hungrary.  The story  just enhanced the loveliness of the drinking of tea from those beautiful dishes as did the sweet quiet moment that we were able to share together.  Let me just add that by "quiet" I meant that Steve and my Dad took the little guys to the park, and blessed us by giving us a most delightful portion of time for our tea party.  We were able to chat to our hearts content with no interruptions from the little guys.  After the "boys"  all returned from the park, we served them up some tea… in less feminine tableware, and they were as happy as we were to partake of the delights of a Valentines tea.

So here is our Rosie Tea Party
