How to Host an Essential Oil Roller Bottle Party

Essential oil roller bottles are the  perfect way to create recipes and remedies that are natural, uplifting and healing, all in one easy to apply little bottle.

Recently I have learned how much fun it is to host an essential oil roller bottle party, and have hosted a few, with great success and enjoyment all around. I don't know what it is that is so much fun about dripping wonderful smelling concoctions of various essential oils into bottles, with  daughters, girlfriends, food and drink, but I love it.

Hosting a Roller Bottle Party is a wonderful way to share, teach, learn and enjoy  all the benefits of essential oils with friends, and will allow each person to take home a roller bottle or two of their own creation. It is the best of fun to make these amazing and beautiful little jewels of healing, together in a wonderful atmosphere of friendship.
And I might add, that making Roller Bottles is a great activity to add to any party, such as a birthday party, wedding shower, craft day, luncheon, or just a "stand alone" Essential Oils Roller Bottle Party, I promise, it'll be a hit.

If you want to make a roller bottle, I put together an essential oil roller bottle guide in a previous post, which you can read here, as well as some of my favorite recipes in another post, here; feel free to check them out.

If you're thinking about hosting an Essential Oil Roller Bottle Party, read on for a few ideas.

Some tips to plan your roller bottle party:

  • Be prepared to supply enough essential oils, bottles and supplies for each person to create a roller bottle.

  • Give yourself enough time to order supplies, allowing  time for their specific shipping. I order my bottles, labels and any other supplies from Amazon and Etsy, all of which have varied times of delivery.  (I don't have any affiliates with any of these, except with the Young Living, but I highlighted some Amazon links just to make it easier to find some of the items). Young Living Oils take approximately a week, so is best to check and plan accordingly.

  • Send invitations.  Phone call or mail works fine, or create a group event on social media platforms; ask for an RSVP, so you can know how many to plan for.

  • Decide on a dollar amount needed to create each roller bottle, and mention it in the invitation.  I set a small price to cover my expenses of bottles and oils, but you could ask anywhere from $5.00 to $15.00 dollars, depending on your cost.

What you will need:

  1. A Good Variety of Essential Oils:  Try to offer a nice variety of Essential Oils that are well known favorites, and also what you know will be needed for many of the recipes you will be providing. I buy my essential oils from Young Living , because of the quality of their oils and their "seed to seal" commitment. You can find them through my shop on the link above, or under my header if you're interested in them.
  2. A Good Quality Carrier Oil or Message Oil: Such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil or  Grape Seed Oil .  Young Living also makes an excellent message oil with a combination of high quality oils.
  3. Empty Roller Bottles: Most of mine come from Amazon I usually order the 10 ml size, but have also order the little half sizes, to give as gifts.
  4. Small funnels or droppers: these are optional for the oils, because most oils have a drip top, allowing good control, but when pouring the carrier oil into the bottle, you will want either a pump top on the bottle, a funnel or a dropper to give you better control when adding to the roller bottle. Many of the roller bottles come with droppers.
  5. Labels: Write in lables or Pre-printed
  6. Recipes:You can either print off multiple copies of each recipe for each person to take and keep, or provide blank recipe cards and recipes, and allow each person to copy the recipes they choose.
  7. Recipe Cards and Pens: For writing down recipes, as mentioned above.

More Options:

  1. Organic Dried Flowers, Small Gemstones, or Tiny Seashells: to add some loveliness to your roller bottles with tiny naturals.
  2. A Carrier to place bottles in while loading with oils: this prevents toppling bottles and wasting oil; believe me, it breaks your heart when you do it, and I have.  Many of the roller bottles come in a sponge type block, and you can reuse these when you are loading  your bottles with oils, another good idea is a lipstick holder such as what you use to organize cosmetics.
  3. Refreshments: Coffee and tea, with cookies or snacks, are always so nice to offer. Having a brunch, lunch or light meal with Roller Bottle Party to follow is great fun as well.

Supply a variety of essential oils, labels, roller bottles and lids;

These are some of the roller bottles and lids that I provided at my recent roller bottle party.

I ordered organic rosebuds and flower buds, petals and gemstone chips from Amazon. These are optional of course, but they add such a pretty dimension to the roller bottle, and they also have their own therapeutic components which may leach into the oils.

Before the party begins, prepare by setting up a work table with elbow room for everyone. Set out your oils so that they are visible and accessible for anyone at the table to grab. Putting the top labels on the lids will help. I  also grouped the oils into categories  to help even further. Here were some of the ways I categorized them:

  • Flower oils (lavender, geranium, rose, chamomile, etc)
  • Citrus oils (lemon, orange, grapefruit, lime, etc)
  • Spice oils  (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove etc)
  • Woodsy oils (cedarwood, spruce, sandalwood, etc)
  • Herbal oils  (Oregano, Basil Thyme, Rosemary, etc)
  • Raindrop oils
  • Immune support oils

I printed out copies of my own essential oils guide, with some recipes for each girlfriend, and also provided recipe cards for them to write down recipes that I provided, or for them to create their own recipe.

I cut up the packaging bases that the roller bottles arrive in, and now I have plenty of bottle holders for everyone to use while creating their roller bottles.

Providing recipes is important, but it is also fun to allow everyone to create their own recipes. I provided an essential oil guide that shows what oils can be used for what ever symptoms someone might have, and from that chart, they were able to create a recipe themselves.

Don't you love how pretty those petals look in there? More on

Peanut Butter, Banana, Chocolate Chip Baked Oatmeal

Wait a minute, is this breakfast or dessert? Well, my answer to that, is take your pick. This is definitely a recipe that will make the kids clamor for oatmeal for breakfast.  It will also be a dessert or a snack that  Mom will love to serve as a wholesome treat for the kids; I baked these up as a snack for a friend and her kids the other day when we had a get together at my house, and they were a big hit. You can make this recipe up in one big 8x8 pan, and cut it in to squares, or scoop it up with a serving spoon, or you can make it like I made this batch, in muffin tins, for individual hand held servings. Either way, they are delicious, comforting,  wholesome. and  wonderful for a make ahead or on the go breakfast.

Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 ripe bananas mashed
1 egg
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 cup milk of choice ( I used almond milk)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Prepare muffin tins or 8 x8 baking pan with cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients except the chocolate chips.
  4. Stir and mix until well combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips
  6. Scoop batter with 1/3 cup measuring cup and fill muffin tins or pour batter into baking dish.
  7. Bake 20 -25 minutes, until slightly golden brown, and firm in the middle.
  8. Enjoy!

Cowboy Macaroni Salad

Here's a satisfying cool summer recipe, that can be served up as a hearty, and delicious main course, or a wonderful accompaniment to a barbecue, picnic or potluck. This salad is a man pleaser, and is "Cowboy" approved... but I must say that the girls are going to love it just as much. It reminds me of "comfort food" in a healthy salad format. I used brown rice pasta, and fresh organic ingredients for this and is it ever delicious.

Ingredients:

For Salad:
12 ounces macaroni or shell pasta
1 lb ground beef
1 tsp garlic powder,
2 tsps onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
6 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 15 oz can pinto beans or black beans
1 cup frozen corn
4 green onions, minced
1/3 of one medium red onion, diced
1 small can green chilies
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, cubed or shredded
1 1/2 cups tomatoes, chopped
A few pickled Jalapenos for garnish ( or if you like it spicy (which my hubby does, add about 1/4 cup of chopped to the whole salad).

For Dressing:
1 1/2 Cups Green Salsa
3/4 cup Sour Cream
Juice from 1 Lime

Instrucions:
  1. Cook, drain and cool macaroni pasta.
  2. Put ground beef into a medium sized skillet, and season with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder.
  3. Using medium heat, stir and cook ground beef.
  4. Drain and cool.
  5. In a small bowl, mix up dressing ingredients, until well blended, and set to the side.
  6. In a large bowl combine all salad ingredients, and stir to distribute evenly.
  7. Drizzle with the dressing, and mix gently together.
  8. Place in a nice serving bowl, and garnish with fresh chunks of cheese, tomatoes, green onions, and pickled jalepenos

DIY Essentil Oil Roller Bottle Guide

I have been loving essential oils for almost 20 years. We use them all the time around in our home, for healing, emotional support, first-aid, house cleaning and just the pleasure of the scent of them. I have always rubbed them on my body, diffused them, put them in my bath, put them in my tea and my food, but when I learned you could put them in a roller bottle and use them that way... well let me tell you that was the cherry on top! The person that first came up with the essential oil roller bottle, deserves some kind of metal  or at least a hug and a thank you from those of us that love them ("Thank you, whoever you are out there that thought these up!")  The first time I made essential oils roller bottles, I became addicted, and I think my family did too. Even my husband keeps a close eye on his roller bottles and ask for more when his are empty. The ease of making up a variety of remedies putting them into a bottle, taking them with you anywhere, and rolling them on with ease whenever you want them is what it's all about.

So, I thought I'd share a quick DIY of how to make them, and I'll share a few of my favorite recipes with you at the end of the post. For this tutorial, I've included some fun little extras, that I have loved adding, such as dried flower petals and gemstone chips. You don't have to put them in of course, but they do add such a beautiful element to the bottle, and I imagine that there is some beneficial aspect to them as well.

What You Will Need:
  • Roller bottles
  • Essential Oils
  • Carrier Oil (such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil)
  • Labels
  • Organic Dried Flower Petals, Flower Buds, Herbs Gemstone Chips, (optional)
  • Recipe Cards (optional)
Where you can get it:  Roller bottles, Carrier Oils, Labels,  Flower Petals and Buds, Gemstone Chips and Recipe Cards can all be ordered from Amazon or Etsy.  Look for good quality and organic ingredients when collecting what you need to go into the roller bottles; remember what goes onto your skin,  is absorbed by your body through the skin, you want it to be good quality and organic. I use Young Living Essential Oils, and have used them for almost 20 years now. I haven't found anything else that I like as well  Young Living Oils, as far as purity and quality. If you are interested in purchasing Young Living Oils, click the link here, or the link under the "Shop" Tab under my header.

Instructions:

  1. Gather your supplies and ingredients, and place everything on flat workspace.
  2. Decide on the recipe or purpose for your roller bottle, and if you don't have one yet, pick an appropriate name for it.
  3. Choose your label and apply it to the bottle: I like to apply the label first, so that I am applying it onto a clean surface, whereas when applying it at the end, there is sometimes oil on the outside of bottle, and the label may not stick as well.
  4. Add any natural elements to the bottle that you want to add, such as flower petals, buds, dried herbs or gemstone chips.
  5. Add essential oils.
  6. Top off the remaining space with the carrier oil.
  7. Place the roller bottle top into the opening in the bottle, and press until it is firmly in place. (Sometimes screwing on the bottle lid will finish securing the roller top).
  8. Shake bottle well, to distribute and mix the oils evenly.
  9. Roll on the bottom of feet, arms, legs, wrists, neck, back of the neck, back of the head and under chin, spinal cord, hips, or where ever you want it.
  10. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Keep a recipe book or recipe cards and a pen at hand, so that you can write down any recipes that you come up with; then you have a record of what you have made, and if you like it, you can make it again, or share it with someone.

  • Put your bottle into a "holder" of some sort, while you are adding oils, so that it will stay secure, and you don't accidentally dump it when it is almost full (yes, I have done that). I have found that the styrofoam that most of the bottle companies send their bottles in, is a perfect tool to hold the bottle when your adding oils to it. Another thing that works, is a small make up organizer that has lipstick compartments in it (you can find these at the dollar store).

Any variety of labels will work nicely; be creative, make it attractive. For some labels, you can write the name of your recipe, and some you can order with the names already printed. I've used all kinds.

You'll be able to see from this post the variety of bottles that can be found; My eyes light up any time I see a new bottle to try, and have fun collecting various styles, even my daughters have had fun helping me collect them.

Adding some lovely natural elements such as gem stones, organic dried flower petals, buds, herbs to your roller bottle really enhances your bottle, adding one more dimension to the roller bottle; the therapy of creating something beautiful.

    Step by Step

    1.     Choose a bottle, recipe and a label.

    2.   Apply the label.

    So pretty isn't it?

    3.  Choose a natural element you would like to add. (Optional)

    4.   Add them into the bottle.

    5.   Place the bottle into something that will hold it and keep it from tipping over (optional).  Add essential oils.

    6.  Use a little funnel or a dropper for the carrier oil (these often come with the roller bottles).

    7.   With your carrier oil, fill the bottle to the base of the neck of the bottle.

    8.   Place the roller top into the opening of the bottle and press to seal.  You can screw the lid firmly over the top and onto the bottle to help seal the roller top.

    9.  Roll on the bottom of feet, arms, legs, wrists, neck, back of the neck, back of the head and under chin, spinal cord, hips, or where ever you want it.

Good quality essential oils like Young Living Essential Oils can be safely applied topically, directly onto the skin (neat). Some oils, such as  Oregano, Thyme, Cinnamon, Clove, Lemongrass, Thieves and Exodus are be best diluted with a carrier oil, because they are considered hot oils, and can cause a strong warming or heating sensation when applied directly.  Using a roller bottle, is a perfect way to pre-blend any oils, as well diluting them to your preference level. Below is a dilution chart, that shows you how many drops make up how much of a percentage of a 10 ML bottle.

Suggested Dilutions for a 10  ml roller bottle
    • For babies zero to 1 years old: 10 - 20 drops essential oils into roller bottle, finished off with carrier oil; this is 5% to 10% dilution
    • For babies and children 2 to 6 years old: 20 -50 drops essential oils into roller bottle, finished off with carrier oil; this is a 10% to 25% dilution rate.
    • For Children 7 to 11 years old: 50- 100 drops essential oils into roller bottle, finished with carrier oil; this is 25%to 50% dilution rate.

    • For 11 years old to Adult: 100 -200 drops essential oils into roller bottle, this is 50% to 100% dilution rate, finished off with carrier oil.
    • For Hot Oils: 50 - 100 drops essential oils into the roller bottle, finished off with a carrier oil; this is a 25% to 50% dilution rate.

Dilution Totals for a 10 ML Bottle
A percentage to the amount of drops you use
    75%    =   150 drops
    50%    =   100 drops
    25 %   =     50 drops
    10%    =     20 drops
    05%    =     10 drops
