We are home from our trip to Ohio.  What a mixture of emotions I feel.  It is hard to leave my girls and grand-babies, especially when I know it could be many months before I see them again.  And while it is always good to be home whenever I go away, I feel a little flat at the moment.  Just looking at all these wonderful pictures, blesses Steve and I all over again.

Russ and Olga waited up for us Sunday night when we got in and it was great to see them. The 3 of them made me a "Happy Birthday" sign (Olga's the artistic one) and put it across the dining room ceiling and had some flowers, a card and a carton of "Ben and Jerry's" Ice cream for me(last year they ate my "Ben and Jerry's" that I had gotten from my brother, thinking it was there as a "free for all"; so this year they remembered that incident and bought me another. HA! I love it.

I had a great trip to Ohio, what a wonderful portion I was blessed to have.  I got some wonderful catch up time with Marie and Elizabeth before the baby was born, and then of course to be there when the baby came was the icing on the cake.  The girls surprised me with a beautiful birthday supper the night Steve flew in.  Marie made the most delicious quiche and set the loveliest table.  They stretched my birthday out into many lovely days, culminating with a make over from Marie.  I loved that!  Thanks John and Marie and Elizabeth and Benjamin, for everything, and I miss you all!

A Valentine for Grammy and Grampa

Our precious grand-baby is here.
A little boy.

Elizabeth and baby are doing well.
It was an eleven hour labor for her and she is quite tired and still hurting some, but on the road to recovery.
Benjamin was able to fly in and arrived about 6 hours after he was born.
What a privilege it has been for me to be a part of this birth.
Patty (the mid-wife) was wonderful,
I would have loved having someone like her when I had my babies.

Valentine Babies?

February is here with all its fun and romance (what in the world happened to January! ) February has always been one of my favorite months, I think because Valentines has always been one of my favorite Holidays, and brings with it some of my happiest memories of parties with my children and their friends when they were growing up. This February I am happy to find myself in Ohio with my daughters. I get to enjoy my delightful little Grandson Zane as we all await the arrival of Benjamin and Elizabeth's baby. Elizabeth is doing a home birth and its very exciting to be here and be a part of it. I have gotten to visit with Elizabeth's midwife, "Patty" , and I just love her. I wish we had a "Patty" in our neck of the woods of Colorado; She is full of wisdom and knowledge of how the body works and how to care for it, and she really is a delight to be with. Marie used Patty when Zane was born, and we were just discussing how we would get to see Patty any more after the baby was born. Marie thought maybe she could get pregnant again. Ha.

The snow is falling hard outside and Elizabeth's due date is here; We all jump when she makes a noise thinking she is having a labor pain ;) I have been busy, cooking and sewing and chatting with my girls. Several pots of tea have been drunk, "Return to Cranford" and "Emma" have been watched, Hobby Lobby has been visited twice, and we are all hoping this fun cycle will go on forever! (Well, sorta). Benjamin and Steve will be heading out here as soon as the announcement has been made that the baby is coming :) I hope to have several pictures to upload in the next day or so. Happy February to all! :)
