Graduation Plans/Potato Party

Olga's High School Graduation is tonight.  We are having a celebration for her tomorrow, it ought to be fun.  It has been quite a week trying to get my strength together to get things done.  I have truly felt like I have been in a battle all week.  On top of being so sick last week, I have had a sciatic nerve which has been giving me excruciating pain.  I am doing so much better today.  Thanks girls for praying.  I'm feeling it!

My friend Roxy and her hubby are coming over to help me today; my heroes on white horses. What a blessing! My Mother in Law is also pitching in and giving a hand and of course my hubby, hard working sweetheart that he is, always pitches in for me; so we will be ready.  Praise the Lord.

Did you ever notice when you are sick how the Lord works Mercy into your life.  How we need His precious grace and mercy.  When family and friends pray and help, it just floods your heart with gratitude at their kindness and mercy, and the Lord's precious provision and it also causes me to feel so tender to those who also have suffered.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation,  that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.
2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4

Olga requested a "Potato Party" for her graduation party and what that means is "as many potato dishes as possible",  plus all the toppings we can think of to go with it.  When we first got Olga, Russell and Eddie 4 years ago, "food" was our most traumatic experience.  The 3 kids were terrified of all the things we loved.  You should have seen the uproar we first had in our house over food :) .... I'm talking about any food, even Russian food caused upset.....but potatoes, ....they were in the safe zone.  I think for the first three months that we had the kids, we ate almost nothing but potatoes, kielbasa and eggs (its no wonder I've gained weight..... add to that the chocolate we bought by the box and bag to soothe all of our nerves ha. I used to be a health food lover, but then I became a "whatever brings peace in the house" food lover.  LOL.  Happily, after a little patience and endurance on everybody's part, a lot of prayer, a little time, perseverance of joy, help from my daughter Marie, who we were blessed to have with us at that time, we  progressed through many things including the expansion of the palette.

Olga has often been heard to say "Potatoes are my life"  with her charming Russian accent.  So for our little Olechka who is now graduating from High School we are having;
"Everything Potato" (well sort of) So here is the menu:

We all had a great time... I think Olga was very pleased.   Check out that cute smile of hers.  Note the date on my pictures... 2 years off... what a crack up; I have a problem with getting my settings right on everything I think.    We also made a nice scrapbook board for Olga, didn't get a picture on this post...

  4. Dear Pam, I commented once, but received an error message, so I suppose it did not go through.
Please forgive me, then, if you have already received my comment.

I am in awe of your beautiful life that the Lord has so lovingly woven together. You have so much love to share as a wife, mother, and woman of God.

Congratulations to your Olga on her graduation! I love the menu, and I know the party was surely perfect and memorable!

God bless you and your husband for your servants' hearts. And, thank you for the sharing the beautiful scripture from 2 Corinthians. Truly, He is the God of all comfort.

    Many blessings,

  6. This is odd, Pam. I commented on this post last week when I read it first, and now there's no sign of the comment. Anyway, I hope it all went well, and that you all enjoyed the 'tatties' (potatoes to all you non-Scots!)
And Olga, I'm with you on this one - there just aint anything like potatoes - in any shape or form!
    Love, Anne x

  7. Anne,
Loved the name "tatties". We also have a name similar
around here; we often say "taters". They are indeed delicious by any name :)
The party went great and we had a wonderful turn out and wonderful time. Thanks for the comments.
    Love Pam
