7 Random Facts

Keri from Keri On  tagged me for this award.  I am supposed to give 7 random facts about myself, and then I will pass it on.   I enjoyed reading the 7 facts about Keri, and I do think it is a nice way to get to know a little more about each other.  Thanks Keri.

Now let's see 7 Random facts....
1.  I was born in California (yawn... I know but still, its a fact and its random)

2.  My family moved to Europe  when I was about 3 years old; We lived in Wales,  Italy and Germany for several years.

3.  I spoke  Italian somewhat fluently (or so I am told), but don't remember any of it now except the few words  that my family sometimes say to each other such as; "Pamela  cativa" (pronounce  Pamela: Pam - a - (long a) - la):   or" Mikala  cativa" or : "Davida cativa".... which means "naughty Pammy" or "naughty Mikey", or "naughty Davey"....  (my brother's names are Mike and Dave). Now isn't that funny the things you forget, and the things you remember?

4.  My family moved to Phoenix , Arizona after we returned from Europe,   where I lived until I got married.

5.  When I was in High School I took German as my language course.  I can remember a little more German than Italian, because I was able to go back to Germany for a summer when I was 17, to visit my Dad who was living there at that time.

6.  When I was a little girl I used to say "when I grow up, I am going to marry a rancher". When I was a junior in High school, I met a young man whom I fell in love with and I married him 2 years later.  He grew up helping his Grandfather on his ranch every summer, and that's what he became; a rancher.  Isn't The Lord good to us? We have been married 31 years now.

7.  Books are one of many favorite things.  I love to read, collect, look at and smell books.  To me a house doesn't seem quite complete with out some sort of library to brows through.

Now I would like to tag Ann of 8 Acres of Eden.  I would enjoy learning 7 random things about her.

  2. Yikes - 7 random facts about me - do I have to do a blog post about them? I'll try to think of 7 random things about myself that I have not already told the world on my blog. Might be mid-week until I can post it though - I'm guest posting (first guest post for me!) on an awesome blog on the subject of hospitality on Monday so my next post will be about that. In the meantime - well I have been to all those countries you lived in Pam! Wales I have visited many times because it was so close to Liverpool where I was born and raised. My first overseas holiday was to Heidelberg at age 18 to visit my German penfriend. I took German as a subject for just one year. Spanish was my main subject which was not that useful - I never went on holiday to Spain like all my friends did every year - my parents could only afford Wales! I did get to visit Italy though in my early 20's. My husband also grew up on a dry stock farm and his mum and dad had a ranch style house! Not quite marrying a rancher but we were dairy farmers for 5 years in New Zealand! Oh and I'm with you on # 7 - it was the book fair of the year (80 000 books on sale) on the weekend but I only bought one book - I can't quite believe it myself. I was so restrained! But I had already been to some great garage sales that morning. And my house has a library! See how much we have in common!

  3. Elizabeth, you always bless me. Love you so much.

    Ann,
Loved hearing all that we have in common, and it was all so interesting too... and now see you have many things to write about that we didn't know ... at least I didn't. I went to Heidelberg at age 17, so there we have another link. I love hearing about people's lives in other places, so keep it coming.
    Much love, Pam

  4. Pam! What fun tidbits of informatioin! I've been out of town....away from the computer kind of out of town, and came back to see you had done this post!
You have certainly seen a good part of the world...how fun to have lived in so many neat places! It would be weird to know that you could speak in a language that you now can't...hmmm..perplexing.
I LOVE that you wanted to marry a rancher and that the Lord provided just the right one! Love, love, love that! God is SO amazing! Giving you that vision and then allowing you to live it!

I also took German in high school. Two years is all, but my sweetie took 4 and then a couple of years in college. After we were married, we went to Europe..mostly German speaking countries.I still have a tapestry bag that we call my Heidelberg bag...we actually bought it in another town, but I first saw it in Heidelberg.
I also love books. Ditto on everything you wrote there!
Thanks so much for sharing! I really like to hear more about people this way!
    Have a great week!

  5. Keri, that is so interesting about you both taking German and having gone to Europeand have been to Heidelberg also, " gut meine freundin". Ha,Ha. Well no doubt you and your hubby probably speak it and spell better it than I do. So, we've had twin day, and now German day. I love it!
    Blessings,
